Travel In Style

December 21, 2010

We made it to the airport, The Husband and I, amidst a day of last minute craziness. Errands to be ran. Hyper dogs to be walked. Packing to be done. Dump-truck full of gravel delivered and distributed across the new driveway to the carriage house (we are roughly a week away from moving in. Hallelujah). Spiraling rumors of airport closures and possible flight cancellations to Europe due to avalanche style snow storms. A slammed finger in a door, mine. A cat who won’t be talked down from the roof and a dog, Dexter, who’s decision to chase the local deer across the neighboring fields conflicted badly with our already late departure from the house. And just for laughs, lets throw in a workout of 400m hills runs, 8 to be exact and a 20 minute jog, you know, to build stamina, which has left this former professional sitting at the departure gate in Atlanta airport with hamstrings that won’t stop twitching and get tighter by the second. Glute muscles that fire warning shots of pain with each and every effort made to stand sit or walk and a lower back that is acting like its just celebrated its 122nd birthday. Luckily I get to spend the next 8 hours in a cramped snug fitting economy seat with plenty of restricted leg room, which should leave me pretty much pretzel shaped by the time I land in Dublin. I see fish oils and glucosamine by the liter in my future.
