School Days

August 19, 2015

I can’t even handle it. Today both my babies headed off to school. Keane is now in preschool and Cullen started baby school. Keane was so excited. He couldn’t wait to show his teacher and his classmates his brand new dinosaur back-pack. He smiled his big smile, waved to me as he walked through the door and told me he’d see me “y’ater“. Ouch! Didn’t need a hug or any kind of reassurance that I was coming back. Which is a good thing I know, but still, ouch! Cullen on the other hand was way more excited about the build up to his big school going moment. He had no idea what was happening, all he knew was that he got to pick himself out a brand new back-pack (an elephant, his favorite animal right now,) and fill it with snacks, new crayons and a glue stick. Once we arrived at the school and he realized what was happening, all hell broke loose. So no need for me to feel wounded by Keane’s independence, Cullen had plenty of “don’t leave me momma” emotion for all of us. With tears in my eyes I eventually left my youngest baby in the capable hands of his teachers, and spent the next few hours in a constant state of worry until it was time to picked them both up again.

And of course getting some “back to school” photos of my boys was a must, even at 7.30 in the morning.

So getting a photo of the lads together, lets see how that went. Well, Cullen slapped his brother.

Keane then went and restrained Cullen’s slapping arm.

This pissed Cullen off but bothered Keane not one bit as he turned his attention back to his bus.

A few silly words and noises from momma for distraction and I get this very similar confused look from both of them.

Eventually we got a decent enough shot.

Not sure whats happening here.

Cullen heads off for a wander.

Keane tells me “I’ll go get him momma” and just like that I have this moment of my boys holding hands.

Keane ushers Cullen back towards the car so we can leave for school.
