Tummy Time

April 30, 2014

The blog is busy with Cullen photos this week. My little fella is powering on with his baby development and working hard on his tummy time to help build up the neck muscles to support that heavy head. I think he enjoyed the view of the world from a non-lying down angle, he definitely took the time to bob his head around from left to right taking in as much as he could of his surroundings.

Exhausted from his tummy time efforts.

The Interactive

April 27, 2014

Cullen spends a lot more time wide awake and looking for people and things to entertain him these days. So momma has been dusting off all of Keane’s old infant toys so his awake hours become a lot more fun and also to help encourage him towards all of his baby milestones. Today he worked hard to master his reaching and touching skills.

What is that thing?

Several minutes of staring.

And then boom, he reached out and made contact.

The effort was both mentally and physically exhausting.

But he gave it a couple more stabs.

And then he was done.

Final Day of Fun

April 25, 2014

Yesterday Keane and Cullen had to say “Goodbye” to their cousin Paul and James. It was a little emotional, they all got along so well and had so much fun doing everything together over the past 5 days.  For their last day we wanted to do something a little special, so we went to an indoor playzone so the boys could go crazy on slides, bouncy things, climbing stuff and swinging objects. And while it was a place very much targeted to children, the adults couldn’t stop themselves from getting involved.

Paul, me, Keane and James take on a super fast slide. Not joke, I think this thing gave me whiplash.

My friend Mike props Cullen in front of a game screen to watch brightly moving shapes.

And he was entranced.

Momma and Keane do a little cage climbing to find another slide.

Paul and James take on the spinning disks.

Dinara couldn’t resist the bouncy castle.

Or the bouncy slide.

Cullen looking very concerned in the rotating tunnel.

So we brought Keane into reassure him.

Then he explored the tiny roundabout.

We wanted to do a group shot with the cousins, but Paul was nowhere to be found and Keane was hostile.

But James gave Keane a little tickle-tickle to help cheer him up.

James takes on the sphere.

No Sun = Indoor Fun

April 22, 2014

The weather has been fabulous the past few days. Hot, but not too hot, sunny in a glarey, where the heck are my glasses way, and dry, in a no more muddy puddles to jump in way.  So last night we invested in a small paddling pool in anticipation of a day filled with messy, splashy fun for the boys. This morning however, we woke to find overcast skies, but we powered on with the paddling pool plan, fully excepting the sun to burn through the cloudy skies at any minute. Sadly it never happened, and then the rain showed up. So the pool time fun was short lived so instead we took the action indoors to work on a little shaving cream art project.

James and Keane ready and optimistic that the sun is on its way.

The sun never showed up and the rain forced us inside to work on our shaving cream art.

Messy, colorful fun.

YAY! Shaving cream cupcakes.

Priceless pieces of artistic creation.

All Things Sports

April 21, 2014

Another jam packed day of Doyle boy action and this time we went big on all things sports. We hit up The Husbands gym to play some catch.

6 year old Paul already looks every inch a pro.

Keane was very excited to show his cousins the right way to start a race.

Bringing up the rear and couldn’t be happier.

James decided to do a some cone hurdling, and every thing was going so well until it wasn’t.

He lost his footing on the landing…

…and took a tumble. But ever the pro, he picked himself up and finished the run.

Paul was up next and made it all look very easy.

Then we took the action outside so the boys could practice their kicking. James was up first.

Then Keane gave it a go and was cheered on enthusiastically by James.

James and Keane rally to give Paul lots of kicking encouragement.

Last but not least, Cullen steps up for his turn.

But Keane steps in at the last second and steals his kicking thunder.

The lads!

Time for a snack break and a couple of pages from Thomas the Train (Keane’s request).

My sister in law, Dinara and her newest buddy Cullen.

The boys start to get a little silly with the shades.

James uses The Husband to get one final kick in.

Trying to get everyone together for a group selfie.

Group selfie!

Well and truly tired and headed for home.
