Happy Halloween 2013

October 31, 2013

Its been a jam packed Halloween Day for Keane and the rest of us. The scary festivities got started really early. For us, there was no waiting until dusk to start our candy hoarding. We kicked off the morning with a “Trunk or Treat” party at Keane’s school and we ended the evening with the traditional “Trick or Treat” crawl around a nearby neighborhood.

Now that he’s a whole year older, Keane had a little input into his costume choice and being a bit of a Thomas the Train fan, he decided that Train Driver was the look to rock for 2013.

With his 4-legged besties, Dexter and Crooked.

Then it was off to school for a costume parade and a little “Trunk or Treating”. Keane was so confused by the goings on, he really didn’t know if he should be laughing or crying.

So he went with the crying briefly.

Then he realized people were giving him things to put in his little pumpkin bucket and all of a sudden life was good.

The non-walking babies got their own personal chauffeur.

But this ladybug really wanted to walk with the bigger babies.

Keane got comfortable enough to start helping himself to some of the candy stashes.

With his teacher and some of his classmates.

Back to the classroom to fill up on some sugar.

Then turning that sugar into fuel for climbing.

In the evening it was time to join the boys and girls at a nearby neighborhood for some “Trick or Treating”.

Our friend Mike helps Keane with his candy selection.

In a big hurry to get to the next house, not because of the candy…..

…but because the lady had a kitty-cat.

Loving the cat more than the candy.

Baby Hudson is 6 Months Old

October 29, 2013

I’ve had my new camera for less than a week, but already its racking up the photographic miles. The day after its arrival I put it straight to work capturing the 6 month photos of an adorable little blue eyed boy with fiery red hair named Hudson.

Hudson’s dad is a huge Tennessee football fan, so it was of the utmost importance that we start our shoot off capturing a few photos of Hudson rocking the team colors as well as wearing dad’s favorite and lucky Tennessee hat.

During our shoot Hudson was very cautious in revealing any of his emotions, but there were definite moments when he let his guard down ever so slightly and I was able to capture a hint of a smile in his pudgy little face and big blue eyes.

Already working on his standing skills.

The next few shots are some of my favorites, Hudson hanging out with 2 of his best cuddly friends.

Trying really hard not to smile.

Looking Fall sharp in his plaid and argyle.

Cute, cute, cuuuute.

Discovering the wonderment of feet.

Adorable mom and baby shot to end on.

Be Warned!

October 27, 2013

Be warned everyone, its the time of year for scary things, and lots of chocolate. This morning as The Husband and I walked the dogs we found ourselves being tailed by a ferocious Demon Baby. Try as we might we couldn’t shake this little guy, so of course we did what we always do when we come across random stray things, we took him home. There was an edge of cuteness to this baby devil we just found irresistible.

Getting Out of a Rut

October 23, 2013

I’ve been stuck in a bit of a rut the last couple of weeks and have been struggling in my efforts to pull myself out of it. What absolutely did not help my cause was the death of my beloved camera. Yes, my camera died, in a drowning incident. I tried everything to revive it. Submerged it in a bag of rice for 24 hours, Google told me this would help. It didn’t. I then gave it a gentle blow-dry, but still it remained unresponsive. I called Canon begging them for advice but hoping for a miracle. They told me to pack it up and ship it to their lab for an evaluation. A week later the camera was returned with a letter officially telling me that my camera was dead. Ouch!

The news hurt. That camera and I have been inseparable for the past 4 years. It had become an extension of my arm, an extra limb, a way for me to capture and share the way I see the world. But now, alas, our time together was over. It was time for me to pick myself and move on. Today my new camera arrived and having not shot anything in almost 2 weeks, I was super excited to charge it up and take it out for a test drive. No points for guessing who my little test drive model was.

I used this unfortunate incident to upgrade my camera from the Canon 5D Mark ii, to the Canon 5D Mark iii and so far I love it. There are quite a few more features to figure out, but I’m excited to spend the next few days getting to grips with all of it new capabilities.

Night Time Adventures

October 9, 2013

Atlanta now has its own version of the “London Eye” and last week Keane took his visiting grandparents down for a little spin on the Skyview so we could all enjoy a rotating, elevated view of the city by night.

The wonderful Skyview ferris wheel.

The ticket agent cleverly identified Keane as the “precious cargo” that he is.

All aboard.

Enjoying the city lights.

After our ferris wheel adventure we weren’t quite ready to call it a night, so we went across the street to have a little fun in the fountains of Centennial Park.

Daddy and Keane find themselves trapped in the midst of the water show.

But with the speed and agility of a gazelle Daddy busts through to freedom.

A little wet but happy.
